Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund to start rolling in November

Last seen in 102 Not Out, superstar Amitabh Bachchan will start shooting for his next film Jhund in November this year. The movie marks the directorial debut of Marathi filmmaker Nagraj Manjule in Bollywood.

Excited about his maiden Hindi project, Manjule says, “No other actor fits the role, only Mr Bachchan can do justice to this particular character. All the others in the film are newcomers since I am known to work with fresh talent. The combination of Mr Bachchan and this young team will be something to look forward to.”

The team is looking at wrapping up the entire film in a start-to-finish schedule of around 80 days. Senior Bachchan will shoot for 45 days straight in Nagpur.

When asked about the reason behind shooting the film in Nagpur, the director says, “I wanted the look to be as authentic as possible. Nagpur has its own charm and feel. The lanes of the city are different from Mumbai and Pune and my film can be best showcased there.”

Based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of slum soccer, Jhund stars Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a retired sports teacher who builds a soccer team consisting of street kids.

Bhushan Kumar is producing the film along with Savita Raj Hiremath.
