‘Ambition inspires me’

AN INTERESTING journey has seen Zoya Nasir go from being a top beautician to becoming a television star in her own right. She made her debut opposite established actor Junaid Khan in the drama serial Hania and has since jumped on to the casting list of producers wanting someone to take on challenging roles.

With interesting projects on the way, strikingly beautiful star Zoya is one to watch out for and took time out to talk all things television.

What first connected you to acting?

I was born an artist. Creativity and imagination creates empathy and a burning desire to live every life. I also love to entertain, so the screen always had my attention, and I knew I wanted it in return.

How did you feel being in front of the camera for the first time?

It was scary and exhilarating at the same time. (Laughs) At one stage, I forgot how my arms work.

Which of your projects has given you the greatest satisfaction?

Being Natasha in forthcoming serial Zebaish. I have never come across such an amazing script with wonderfully developed character arcs and then Iqbal Hussain directs it. It’s a perfect recipe, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it. It is new and interesting.

What is your plan?

The plan is to keep on going forward. I can’t stay in one place for too long and always look ahead to the next challenge.

What do you enjoy watching on TV?

I enjoy watching comedy the most. I think I have watched Brooklyn 99 a million times.

Who is your acting hero?

I have so many and for so many reasons. If I had to choose just one, then no one beats Qavi Sahab.

If you could master something new what would it be?

There are so many things I want to master and just one lifetime won’t be enough. I don’t know how to swim. So let’s start with that.

Tell us something about you not many people would know?

(Laughs) I’m actually very smart and wise.

What inspires you?

I think ambition really inspires me.
