Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Fanne Khan: I am a chapter in the film, not the fulcrum

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which was released in October 2016. After a year and a half, she will be seen on the silver screen this year. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to star in Fanne Khan which is slated to release on July 13, 2018. The actress will be seen alongside Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor in the film. Her role in the film is of a glamorous singer. The film deals with the issue of body shaming.

Talking about her role in Fanne Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said to a leading Indian daily, “I am a chapter in the film, not the fulcrum. There are other talents in the story and you will see why I chose to do the film once it releases. I am working with Anil for the third time and though I want to call him Anilji, he insists I call him Anil. He is such a dedicated and ever-charged artiste.”

Earlier, speaking about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's role in the film, a source said to a leading Indian daily, “She now has a far more important role than the actress who played her part in the original film. It was always one of the pivotal characters. But now she has been given far more importance in the script than what the original actress got. Aishwarya plays a singer and has four songs which she will sing herself for the first time.”

For the uninitiated, the film Fanne Khan is the remake of Everybody’s Famous.

The bestselling author, whose novels like 3 Idiots and Kai Po Che! became major films, explained that many actors and directors struggle when their work doesn’t succeed. “There are actors who, when going to a restaurant, if they aren’t recognised, don’t enjoy the meal. They wonder, ‘No one came to click photos?’ Can you imagine what a sick life that is?” he said.

Bhagat added that the pressure of attention and constant public scrutiny can worsen insecurity. He recalled seeing stars fade over time, their mental health affected by the highs and lows of fame.
