A couple of days ago, Reliance Entertainment announced that they have acquired the remake rights of action thriller Kaithi which was one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of 2019. Originally starring Tamil actor Karthi in the lead role, the movie also featured Narain and Dheena in important characters.

Ever since Reliance Entertainment announced its plans to remake the much-loved film in Hindi, the audience has been wondering who will play the lead role in it? Initially, there were reports that Karthi may reprise his role in the remake. However, those were mere speculations as the makers want someone from Bollywood to front the cast.
As per a source, Karthi does not have a market in the Hindi belt and hence, he cannot play the male lead here. “He does not have a market in the Hindi belt. Like it or not, South Indian superstars are restricted in their viewership to their home base. Karthi would be the natural choice in Hindi. But he won’t bring in the audience. His elder brother Suriya made an attempt to get into Hindi cinema with Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra, but he failed.”
According to sources, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who helmed the original, is expected to be retained to helm the remake. As far as the leading man of the film is concerned, Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh are the two main choices for the remake. “It would depend on the availability of dates, the price, etc. But yes, these two are the natural choices,” a source informs an entertainment portal.

Hrithik Roshan has not signed any film after the huge success of Yash Raj Films’ War (2019). His fans would be more than happy if the actor gives his nod to the project. Ranveer Singh, on the other hand, is gearing up for the release of his next film ’83, slated to release on 10th April 2020.
