Prolific filmmaker Priyadarshan is set to make his comeback to Hindi cinema. Known for helming a series of successful comic-capers like Hera Pheri (2000), Hungama (2003) and Garam Masala (2005), he last directed Rangrezz (2013), a non-comedic film which turned out to be a dud at the box-office.

After staying away from Bollywood for almost 6 years, the celebrated filmmaker is returning with a bang. He has decided to roll out a sequel to his 2003 blockbuster Hungama. Featuring Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen, Aftab Shivdasani and Paresh Rawal in important roles, the comic-caper was one of the most successful films of the year.

The latest update on the project is that Hungama 2 has found its leading man. Yes, you heard it right! According to reports, newcomer Meezaan Jaffrey has been roped in to play the male lead in the sequel.

Meezaan is the son of seasoned actor Javed Jaffery and grandson of veteran actor Jagdeep. He made his silver screen debut with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-produced Malaal (2019) in July this year. Though the romantic movie did not perform well at the box-office, Meezaan did manage to receive overwhelming response for his performance in it.

Confirming the development, Priyadarshan informs a publication, “Yes, we have found our male lead in Hungama 2 and it is Meezaan. The boy is terrific on screen. He is a fabulous dancer like his father, emotes and fights well too. There is nothing he cannot do.”

Besides Meezaan, Hungama 2 will feature a number of other actors as well. Chances are high that Priyadarshan may choose some of the actors from the original cast as well. Let’s wait and watch.
