Former Indian opener WV Raman has been appointed as the coach of the Indian women’s team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday (20). The 53-year-old Raman will be the fourth coach of the women’s team in 20 months. Welcoming his appointment, Raman tweeted: “Thanks you all folks, for the wishes and your kind words. Means a lot.” Interestingly, former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten was a top choice, but the BCCI said he was ineligible due to conflict of interest.
