Murtuza Iqbal

For the past many years, South Indian films are being dubbed in Hindi and getting a good response at the box office. However, there was still a gap between Hindi films and South Indian movies. But things changed with SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise. It was made in Telugu and Tamil and dubbed in different languages.

And now, many filmmakers from down South are collaborating with big Bollywood production houses and are making multilingual films that would have a Pan-India appeal.

So, today let’s look at the list of five upcoming multilingual films we are excited for…

Radhe Shyam

After the Baahubali franchise, Prabhas has become a Pan-India star, so first Saaho, and now Radhe Shyam is being made in various languages. The film also stars Pooja Hegde who starred in last year’s blockbuster film Housefull 4. The movie is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films of 2021.

Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas’ next

Nag Ashwin is all set to direct Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas in his next. The film will be shot in three languages, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. It was announced on the 50th anniversary of Vyjayanthi Movies.

Fighter

Vijay Devarakonda became a household name after the release of his Telugu movie Arjun Reddy which was remade as Kabir Singh in Hindi. Now, Vijay is all set to make his Hindi debut with the multilingual film Fighter. The movie is being directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar. It also stars Ananya Panday in the lead role.

Haathi Mere Saathi

Rana Daggubati starrer Haathi Mere Saathi was slated to release in April this year, but now, it will hit the screens during the Makar Sankranti festival next year. While in Hindi it is titled Haathi Mere Saathi, the Tamil and Telugu version is titled as Kaadan and Aranya respectively. The Hindi version also stars Pulkit Samrat in a pivotal role, and Vishnu Vishal plays the same character in the Tamil and Telugu version.

Thalaivi

Last but not the least, we have Thalaivi on the list. The Kangana Ranaut starrer is being shot in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The movie is a biopic on late actor-turned-politician Jayalalithaa. Directed by AL Vijay, the movie also stars Arvind Swamy and Bhagyashree.

How Curry Barker's Obsession became a £167 million hit by turning dating anxieties into psychological horror

Highlights

  • Curry Barker's viral horror film Obsession uses a supernatural premise to explore modern relationship anxieties.
  • The film examines how obsession, entitlement and idealisation can be mistaken for romance.
  • Its themes have resonated with younger audiences navigating dating in an age of constant digital connection.

When affection turns into control

On the surface, Obsession has the ingredients of a traditional horror film: a wish gone wrong, a relationship spiralling out of control and an atmosphere of growing dread.

What has captured audiences, however, is not the supernatural element but the film's portrayal of unhealthy relationship dynamics. At its core, the story asks what happens when someone becomes attached not to a person, but to an idea of who that person should be.
