5 tips for keeping your hair safe during rainy season

  1. Keep your hair dry

Getting your hair wet in the rain isn’t just bad for your health, but also for your hair. Hair is more defenceless when it is wet, and rain water is usually dirty and acidic so you can just imagine the damage it causes to it. So keep your umbrella and old-fashioned plastic rain bonnet is the way to go.

2. Wash your hair

During rain, it’s near to impossible to keep your hair dry always. So when you get caught in the rain, shampoo your hair as soon as you can. Rainwater left on your scalp for long periods can cause irritation and make it susceptible to bacterial infections, and even dandruff. And always try to wash your hair with a mild shampoo or homemade shampoo to avoid chemicals.

3. Avoid hair styling products

If you use hair styling products like gel, hair serum, etc. then try to avoid them because the chemical content of these products makes your hairs flat, greasy and attract more dirt from the atmosphere in these seasons which can cause infection, itchiness or dandruff to your scalp.

4. Keep a wide tooth comb handy

Wide tooth combs are recommended for combing through wet hair because it doesn’t cause a lot of tension on the hair. A wide tooth comb not only helps in detangling your tresses but it also serves as a good conditioning comb.

5. Braid it

Braiding is one of the easiest ways to keep frizzy hair under control. Plus, it's a look that holds better in the rainy wind than most other types of styles. A braid or plait is going to be another winner on a rainy day. Or you can always opt for loose hairstyles or even a shorter haircut for easy maintenance.
