SINGER INDEEP BAKSHI ON HOW SUCCESS MOTIVATES HIM TO WORK HARDER

by ASJAD NAZIR

LIKE a high-powered magnet, Indeep Bakshi regularly attracts mega hit songs and high profile collaborations.

He has attained a superb body of work in a short space of time, including songs like Saturday Saturday, Kala Chasma, 36 Aayengi 36 Jayengi and Badi Wali Feeling.

Although he has several huge songs to his name, this seems like just the beginning for the rapidly rising Indian music star, who has more terrific tracks and surprises on the way. Eastern Eye caught up with singer, songwriter and musician Indeep Bakshi to talk about music and his amazingly rapid rise.

Who discovered your musical talent?
I started off a few years ago in my early college days making my own versions of popular tracks and playing them in my car. Although I was an architect by profession, music has always been my passion and it slowly took over. All I can say is it’s the rhythm that keeps me alive.

How do you describe your journey in music so far?
So, my journey has been a rollercoaster ride but I am building up myself and ready to give many more tracks in Bollywood in the coming days. It’s just the start and there is a lot more to come in the future.

How did you feel when you when your first song Saturday Saturday became a huge hit?
I was immensely happy and surprised with the response to the song. It was spreading like fire and soon it became the ultimate party anthem all around the world. It was like a dream come true.

How much did the success of songs like Saturday Saturday and Kala Chashma mean to you?
When a song becomes successful it does make me happy, but also pushes me to work harder. I really got motivated and took a break to learn more about music when the songs became hits. I am still continuing to learn and want to get better with each song.

Apart from these two, which of your other tracks have given you great joy?
Bad Wali Feeling, 36 Aayengi 36 Aayengi and many other tracks, which I really loved. My songs are my babies so as the baby grows you feel happy and when the baby is a grown up you see their success.

Are you able to tell if a song will be successful while in a studio?
Yes, one with a catchy vibe or flow with a badass hook, of course. Any song with these will be hit for sure.

What can we expect next from you?
As an artist, I think that doing a remake of an old song is common these days. New and freshly composed music should come out more often. It is my profession as an artist to work as per the public’s demand, and I will continue giving them what they want.

Who would you love to collaborate with?
Definitely, I would love to collaborate with any artist with good music sense and deliverability. Making good music and ultimate hits is the most important.

What are your other big passions?
Obviously, music will always be the first in list. Apart from that, I love playing casino games, fitness and travelling around the world most.

What music dominates your own personal play list?
There is nothing like dominating the mood. It’s more like go where the road takes you and press play.

What inspires you musically?
Music has a power that I truly believe nothing else can claim to have. In every essence, it’s wonderful and divine. So music in itself is an inspiration.

Why do you love music?
Music is fun. It’s kind of a stressbuster for me and I enjoy it to the fullest.
