Vidya Balan approached for Anu Menon’s next directorial

Actress Vidya Balan, who is currently shooting for debutant Jagan Shakti’s upcoming sci-fi movie Mission Mangal, has been approached by filmmaker Anu Menon for the latter’s next directorial venture.

If reports are to be believed, the National Award-winning actress is in talks to play an interesting character in the project which is still untitled. If all goes well, the movie will hit the shooting floor in 2019.

The film is inspired by the true-life story of writer and mental calculator Shakuntala Devi, popularly known as the human computer. While Anu Menon has come onboard to direct the project, Ronnie Screwvala has agreed to bankroll it under his production house RSVP Movies.

“Vidya found the story really inspiring when Anu approached her but is yet to sign the project. Anu has researched a lot for the film which is currently in the final stages of scripting, following which the team will start on an extensive prep. The film is likely to roll sometime next year,” a source close to the development reveals.

However, when Menon was contacted for confirmation, she chose not to divulge much at this moment. “It’s too early to comment. We are still writing the script. Nothing is confirmed,” she said.
