Two Police Killed As Separatist Rebels Attack China’s Consulate In Pakistan

Three suicide attackers tried to storm the Chinese consulate in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Friday (23), but were killed before they could get into the building, the city’s police chief said. At least two police officers were killed in the attack, which was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist insurgent group that opposes Chinese projects in the resource-rich southwestern province of Baluchistan. All Chinese staff at the consulate were safe, Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and China’s foreign ministry said.
