Sunil Grover gets talking about the huge success of Bharat

Starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, Bharat has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019. The movie, which hit the screens on the auspicious occasion of Eid, is still running successfully in several cinemas across the country. It has already zoomed past the much-coveted ₹ 200 crore club and is expected to smash some more records before folding up at the domestic box-office.

All the cast members of Bharat have been appreciated for delivering riveting performances in the big-ticket film, especially acclaimed comedian and actor Sunil Grover. Grover is on cloud nine after the humongous success of the film and the kind of praises that the audience is showering upon him.

“The acknowledgement and love that I am receiving are overwhelming. The response is way more than I expected. Wherever I go, people talk about Bharat and compliment me. The way they compliment me now, I see a new expression on their faces. It’s very different and nicer from the earlier compliments I ever got. It’s amazing,” he tells an entertainment portal.

We also hear that Salman Khan is very happy that the success of Bharat has benefitted the female lead Katrina Kaif a lot. As we all know that her last few films had not performed well at the box-office, especially with superstars like Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. But the success of Bharat has spring-boarded her back to the top league.

“Career-wise, things were not going well for Katrina. The tides have turned with Bharat. Nobody will call her a jinx anymore and that is a big relief to Bhai (Salman Khan),” reveals a source to an Indian daily.

Produced by Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar, Bharat is directed by hit filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. Zafar has previously worked with Salman Khan on Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).

What Britain’s ban on strangulation porn really means and why campaigners say it could backfire

Highlights:

  • Government to criminalise porn that shows strangulation or suffocation during sex.
  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

You see it everywhere now. In mainstream pornography, a man’s hands around a woman’s neck. It has become so common that for many, especially the young, it just seems like part of sex, a normal step. The UK government has decided it should not be, and soon, it will be a crime.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
