A star-studded show in the making for Star Network?

Star Network India has just launched its new channel Star Bharat after scrapping the previous one Life OK. The channel, which went on air on 28th August at 6:00 PM, has an impressive line-up of shows to entertain the audience and build its viewership.

Om Shanti Om, Kya Haal Mr. Panchaal, Nimki Mukhiya, Shaam Daam Dand Bhed and Aushman Bhav are some of the shows which have already gone on air with the launch of the channel. Besides these serials, there are many other shows in the content line-up of the channel. One of them might be a show based on the inspirational life of revered Indian saint, Adi Guru Shankaracharya.

According to reports, producer Aniruddh Pathak has started working on the show based on Adi Guru Shankaracharya. It will boast of the presence of several big names from the television and film industry. Some of the actors who are said to be in talks for the show are Bhagyashree, Vidya Malvade, Rajit Kapur and Amit Khanna, among others.

Reportedly, Bhagyashree will be seen in the character of Shankaracharya's mother, while Rajit Kapur has been roped in to play Kumarila Bhatta. Amit will, reportedly, play Mandana Misra while Vidya has been chosen to essay the role of Ubhaya Bharti.

While the makers have not yet officially announced that on which channel of the network will air the show, insiders say that it is for Star Bharat only and might be launched around January next year.

  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
