Sadhguru's father passes away

THE father of renowned spiritual guru Sadhguru passed away at his home in Mysuru in south India on Friday (8) at the age of 95.

BV Vasudev died due to age-related illness.


Born in Bengaluru, in southern India, Vasudev was a doctor by profession. He retired as the Divisional Medical Officer from Mysuru Railway Hospital more than three decades ago.

He leaves behind four children, daughters Shaswathaprana and Pushpalatha Vasudev and sons Ravindra and spiritual guru Sadhguru.

Vasudev’s wife Susheelamma had predeceased him.

His last rites were performed at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam on Saturday (9) in the presence of a number of dignitaries.

Sadhguru could not attend the last rites as he away in the US.

Diwali added to UNESCO intangible heritage list

DIWALI, the festival of lights, was added to UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list on Wednesday. The announcement led to celebrations in India.

UNESCO is meeting in New Delhi from Tuesday to Thursday to review dozens of nominations from 78 countries. The selected entries will be added to its cultural heritage list aimed at raising awareness about the diversity of traditions and ensuring their protection.
