Sadhguru's father passes away

THE father of renowned spiritual guru Sadhguru passed away at his home in Mysuru in south India on Friday (8) at the age of 95.

BV Vasudev died due to age-related illness.


Born in Bengaluru, in southern India, Vasudev was a doctor by profession. He retired as the Divisional Medical Officer from Mysuru Railway Hospital more than three decades ago.

He leaves behind four children, daughters Shaswathaprana and Pushpalatha Vasudev and sons Ravindra and spiritual guru Sadhguru.

Vasudev’s wife Susheelamma had predeceased him.

His last rites were performed at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam on Saturday (9) in the presence of a number of dignitaries.

Sadhguru could not attend the last rites as he away in the US.

Hasina accuses Yunus government of atrocities against non-Muslims in Bangladesh

BANGLADESH’s deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday accused the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus of perpetrating “unspeakable atrocities” against non-Muslims in the country.

In a message issued on the occasion of Christmas, the 78-year-old Awami League leader said the current ruling group, which she alleged has seized power illegally, was setting “horrific precedents such as burning religious minorities to death”, an apparent reference to the lynching of a Hindu man in Bangladesh last week.
