Sadhguru's father passes away

THE father of renowned spiritual guru Sadhguru passed away at his home in Mysuru in south India on Friday (8) at the age of 95.

BV Vasudev died due to age-related illness.


Born in Bengaluru, in southern India, Vasudev was a doctor by profession. He retired as the Divisional Medical Officer from Mysuru Railway Hospital more than three decades ago.

He leaves behind four children, daughters Shaswathaprana and Pushpalatha Vasudev and sons Ravindra and spiritual guru Sadhguru.

Vasudev’s wife Susheelamma had predeceased him.

His last rites were performed at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam on Saturday (9) in the presence of a number of dignitaries.

Sadhguru could not attend the last rites as he away in the US.

Cyber criminals have stolen an estimated £1.65 bn (Rs 20,000 crore) from victims across India in the past year, with Delhi alone losing £103 m (Rs 1,250 crore), police officials revealed on Monday.

The scale of the new-age crime came into sharp focus last week when an 81-year-old man and his 77-year-old wife in Greater Kailash, New Delhi, were defrauded of £1.22 million (Rs 14.85 crore) through a 'digital arrest' scam, leaving them virtually penniless.
