Sadhguru's father passes away

THE father of renowned spiritual guru Sadhguru passed away at his home in Mysuru in south India on Friday (8) at the age of 95.

BV Vasudev died due to age-related illness.


Born in Bengaluru, in southern India, Vasudev was a doctor by profession. He retired as the Divisional Medical Officer from Mysuru Railway Hospital more than three decades ago.

He leaves behind four children, daughters Shaswathaprana and Pushpalatha Vasudev and sons Ravindra and spiritual guru Sadhguru.

Vasudev’s wife Susheelamma had predeceased him.

His last rites were performed at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam on Saturday (9) in the presence of a number of dignitaries.

Sadhguru could not attend the last rites as he away in the US.

Starmer urges Britain to reject ‘division’ in New Year message

PRIME MINISTER Sir Keir Starmer has used his New Year message to warn against growing political division. He insisted that people would feel “positive change” in their lives in 2026, promising action to reverse national decline.

Speaking from Downing Street, Starmer admitted that recent years had been difficult for many people and said frustration over the pace of change was understandable.
