Shah Rukh Khan’s action thriller Pathan pushed back 2022?

Shah Rukh Khan’s action thriller Pathan pushed back 2022?

With Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor’s much-delayed films locking dates for their theatrical release in 2021, it seems Shah Rukh Khan will not grace the silver screen this year with his hotly anticipated film Pathan.

Khan was last seen in his home production Zero (2018) alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The film, directed by Aanand L Rai, did not set the cash registers jingling at the box-office. Its failure affected the superstar so much that he did not sign any new project for a long time.

After a huge gap of almost two years, Khan finally returned to a film set with Yash Raj Films’ Pathan. His fans were expecting that the film would hit the marquee in 2021, but it seems highly unlikely now.

On Wednesday, Yash Raj Films announced its slate of films, including Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj, Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Siddharth Chaturvedi’s Bunty Aur Babli 2, and Arjun Kapoor’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.

With lucrative box-office slots already being taken up by the aforementioned delayed films, Shah Rukh Khan is likely to put the release of Pathan on hold until the first quarter of 2022, some publications report.

Directed by Siddharth Anand of Bang Bang (2014) and War (2019) fame, Pathan also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles. The mega-budgeted action thriller hit the shooting floor last November.

Recently, superstar Salman Khan confirmed that he has a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan. The duo will reportedly shoot a high-octane action sequence on top of Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham will also be a part of the action sequence, reports say.

Liam Neeson rejects anti-vax claims after documentary narration triggers wide backlash

Highlights:

  • Liam Neeson says he is not anti-vaccine
  • The film draws on a book by Judy Mikovits
  • Neeson’s representatives stress he did not shape the film’s content
  • Clips from the documentary promote fringe vaccine theories criticised by scientists
  • The actor has long backed global immunisation through his UNICEF

Liam Neeson has stepped into a storm not of his own making, pulled in by a vaccine debate tied to a documentary controversy he only narrates. The actor’s name is now attached to Plague of Corruption, a film built on claims that scientists and medical agencies have already challenged. His team says the link is misleading, stressing that Liam Neeson remains firmly pro-vaccine and did not shape a single line of the film’s message.
