Sandra Oh onboards Aziz Ansari's comedy film 'Good Fortune'

Canadian and American actor Sandra Oh, who is known for her roles in Killing Eve and Arliss has been roped in for Aziz Ansari's directorial film Good Fortune, reported Deadline.

The film also stars Seth Rogen, Keanu Reeves, and Keke Palmer.

Oh's role is being kept under wraps, as is the plot of the movie. Ansari directed from his script and produced alongside Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang, with Aniz Adam Ansari and Jonathan McCoy serving as executive producers. Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey of Lionsgate are in charge of the picture.

The film is Ansari's second directorial project, following the Searchlight dramedy Being Mortal, which was shut down in 2022 because of allegations of bad behaviour by cast member Bill Murray.

He previously directed his 2022 comedy special Nightclub Comedian for Netflix, as well as 11 episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix series Master of None, which he co-created with Yang.

"It's always so exciting when I get the opportunity to write a quote for a PR announcement. However, I'm pretty sure no one reads past the headline and gets to my quote except someone vetting this at Lionsgate PR," admitted Ansari in a statement to Deadline. "If you are genuinely reading up to this point, I'm a bit concerned. Have you read Crime and Punishment? The novellas of Stefan Zweig? I've also heard Lonesome Dove is wonderful.

"Anyway," the actor-filmmaker continued, "Sandra Oh is wonderful and I'm so excited she is a part of our film. I must return to the edit now. Best wishes to all readers."

Known for leading the acclaimed series Killing Eve and The Chair, and for a longtime role on Grey's Anatomy, as well as films like Alexander Payne's Sideways, Oh can currently be seen starring opposite Awkwafina in the 20th/Hulu comedy Quiz Lady, which world premiered at last year's Toronto Film Festival.

Up next, she'll be seen in the series The Sympathizer starring recent Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr., which premieres April 14, reported Deadline.

Kangana Ranaut backs Isha Koppikar’s ‘Blind Follower’ remark. But is blind devotion patriotism?

Highlights

  • Isha Koppikar called herself a “proud” blind follower, but said her devotion is towards India, not a political party.
  • The actress said patriotism does not mean agreeing with every government policy.
  • Kangana Ranaut backed Isha, sharing her own experiences of speaking out against injustice.

The word “blind follower” has long been used as a political criticism, usually to describe someone who supports a leader or party without questioning them. Isha Koppikar, however, has turned the phrase on its head. In a recent Instagram video, the actress described herself as a “proud” blind follower, but made it clear that her devotion is to India rather than any political party. Kangana Ranaut subsequently shared Isha’s video and said she could relate to the sentiment.

Isha Koppikar says her devotion is to the country

Isha did not shy away from the controversial label. “Yes, I am an andhbhakt. If it is bhakti (devotion) to love your country and want to see it progress, then yes, I am proud to be a bhakt… andhbhakt,” she said. However, she immediately drew a distinction between patriotism and political loyalty.
