Saif on reacting to the failure of Sara Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal

Starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan in lead roles, Love Aaj Kal was one of the most awaited films of 2020. The audience had pinned a lot of hopes on it as it was a reboot of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s 2009 hit of the same name, featuring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in central characters.

Despite great pre-release buzz, Love Aaj Kal failed to click with the audience and turned out to be a huge box-office disappointment. Recently, actor Saif Ali Khan was asked how he reacted to the failure of daughter Sara Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal.


He said, “I did message her and ask if she was alright. Of course, it is a romantic and nice fatherly notion (to hold your daughter’s hand through hardships), but I don’t think it is really needed. I think she is quite tough and smart and she gets it. And I told her, ‘You have to go through this’.”

Sara Ali Khan debuted in Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath. The film did good business at the box-office and the debutante received overwhelming response for her performance in it. She followed it up with another hit in her kitty in the form of Rohit Shetty’s Simmba (2019). After two consecutive successes, receiving flak for her performance in Love Aaj Kal was a first for the newcomer.

Saif said that parents always want to hep their children and they are always there. “She has not really talked about it. Parents want to help and they are there. It is really something you have to go through.”

Sara Ali Khan will next be seen in David Dhawan’s comic-caper Coolie No. 1 alongside Varun Dhawan. She also stars in Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re, co-starring Dhanush and Akshay Kumar.

US president Donald Trump piled on criticism Wednesday of a decision to grant Hollywood superstar George Clooney French citizenship after a junior government official in Paris labelled the move a "double standard".

An official decree confirmed that the 64-year-old Oscar winner, his wife Amal Alamuddin Clooney and their two children had become French citizens, sparking controversy just ahead of language requirements being toughened for everyone else under new immigration rules from January (1).
