Rohit Shetty signs Akshay Kumar for his next titled Sooryavanshi

After working with Ranveer Singh in Simmba (2018), hit Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty is now set to team up with superstar Akshay Kumar for the first time ever in his directorial career. The director has signed Khiladi Kumar for his next film titled Sooryavanshi.

Kumar, who has played a cop in many successful films in the past, has been roped in to play the role of ATS Chief Veer Sooryavanshi in the film. A fleeting glimpse of his avatar in the film was shown in Shetty’s Simmba.

According to reports, Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar will start shooting for Sooryavanshi by April next year in Mumbai. As of now, only Kumar has been finalized for the film. Casting for the rest of the cast will happen soon.

Sooryavanshi is expected to release on December 27, 2019, the last weekend of the year just like Simmba. It is going to be an extension of the cop universe that Rohit Shetty is trying to create like the much-loved Marvel comics.

More details are awaited.
