Ranveer Singh unveils his look as Kapil Dev in 83

Ranveer Singh, who was most recently seen in the Zoya Akhtar-directed, Gully Boy (2019), has been quite busy lately with preparations and now shooting of his much-awaited film, 83. Today, the star took to social media to reveal his first look as 'Haryana Hurricane' Kapil Dev in the film on his 34th birthday.

If his first look is anything to go by, Ranveer Singh seems set to pull the character off with aplomb as he looks uncannily like the former cricketing champion in it. "On my special day, here's presenting the Haryana hurricane, Kapil Dev," wrote the Bajirao Mastani (2015) actor on his Instagram account.

Directed by Kabir Khan, 83 revolves around Indian cricket team’s unprecedented win against West Indies in the 1983 World Cup tournament. Kapil Dev was the captain of the World Cup winning team. In his first look as Kapil Dev, Ranveer Singh can be seen dressed in a white shirt and spinning the ball with a fierce look in his eyes.

As the actor shared the first look from the on his social media, it set the internet on fire with people praising the actor and the team of the movie for getting the look right. Ranveer Singh's colleagues including Ayushmann Khurrana, Sayani Gupta and Sanya Malhotra also cheered for the actor.

Aside from Ranveer Singh, 83 also stars Deepika Padukone who plays Dev’s wife Romi Dev. Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Harrdy Sandhu and Jatin Sarna also play important characters. Produced by Phantom Films and Reliance Entertainment, 83 is set to release on 10th April, 2020.
