Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 begins production

Award-winning Hindi film actress Rani Mukerji, who was last seen in the sleeper hit film Hichki (2018), returns to face the camera after a hiatus of almost a year. The actress has started shooting for her next film Mardaani 2, which went on floors earlier today.

As the title suggests itself, the film is a sequel to Mardaani (2014), which turned out to be a big hit at the box office upon its release five years ago. While the original film was directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the sequel is being helmed by Gopi Puthran.


Gopi is making her directorial debut with the much-awaited film after writing the original movie in 2014. Rani, who received widespread praises for her performance in Mardaani, will reprise her role of honest cop Shivani Shivaji Roy once again.

On Wednesday, the actress was trending on various social media platforms after her picture from the sets of Mardaani 2 was shared by Yash Raj Films on their official Instagram account.

In the photograph, Rani is seen dressed in a crisp white shirt and a pair of black trousers. She looks fierce and intense in the picture. "Rani Mukerji starts shooting for Mardaani 2,” read the caption on the post.

Aditya Chopra is bankrolling the project.
