Rajkummar Rao and Dinesh Vijan reteam for a horror comedy

Bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Stree (2018) is undoubtedly one of the most successful films of recent times. Made on a shoestring budget of approximately ₹ 20 crores, the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror comedy racked up over ₹ 130 crores at the domestic box-office and emerged as one of the most profitable movies of all time.

While Stree was still minting money at the cash counter, producer Dinesh Vijan had announced his next with Rajkummar Rao. Titled Made In China, the movie also features Mouni Roy who made her silver screen debut with the Reema Kagti-directed Gold (2018).

The latest we hear that Vijan and Rao have collaborated for their third venture together. And just like Stree, their third collaboration will also be a horror comedy. The untitled movie stars Rao as a small town goon whose plans go for a toss when he has some supernatural encounters.

Confirming the same, Dinesh told a popular tabloid, “Yes, Raj and I are back and I couldn’t be happier as he’s one of the most talented actors we have today. He springs a surprise with every film and this one will be no different. He plays a small-time goon whose plans go haywire when he discovers that he might be in store for some supernatural encounters. You can be sure he will be as riveting as Stree’s ladies’ tailor, chasing after a ghost.”

Besides Rajkummar Rao, popular comedian Varun Sharma will also be seen in an important role in the flick. “Varun is in my comic caper, Arjun Patiala, as Diljit Dosanjh's lackey Onida Singh, a cop with an arrogant swagger and a sarcastic tongue. I was waiting to offer him another role that would bring the laughs,” added Vijan.

The makers are yet to lock a title for the film.
