Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 shifts to 29th November

The makers of the forthcoming sci-fi movie 2.0 have announced a new date for its theatrical release in India and some other popular territories across the world. Toplined by Southern superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, the movie will enter in cinemas on 29th November, 2018.

A sequel to Enthiran (2010), 2.0 is helmed by noted filmmaker Shankar, who announced the new release date on his Twitter handle. "Hi everyone, at last, the VFX companies promised the final delivery date of the VFX shots. The movie will release on November 29, 2018," he wrote.

Later, Akshay Kumar, who plays the lead villain in the sci-fi movie, also took to Twitter to share the date with his fans. “Get ready for the ultimate clash, #2Point0 on 29th November, 2018!” read his tweet.

Earlier, 2.0 was slated to release on 18th October, 2017. However, the makers failed to complete the post-production work on time and postponed the release to 25th January, 2018.

Weeks before 25th January, 2018, the movie was shifted again to 14th April, 2018. The makers cited the reason that VFX work wasn’t complete and hence no-show in cinemas. From 14th April, 2.0 was moved to 27th April. But again, the audience could not see the movie in theatres as the makers failed to release it again due to pending VFX work.

With the announcement of the new release date, hope has flickered in many eyes once again. We hope that this time around the makers don’t break the promise made with the audience and release the film as per the schedule.

You arrive in Kochi, and it feels like the sea air makes everything slightly sharper; faces in the city look purposeful, a film poster peels at the corner of a wall. In a city that has cradled a thriving film industry for decades, a single crime on the night of 17 February 2017 ruptured the ordinary: an abduction, a recorded sexual assault and a survivor who reported it the next day. What happened next is every woman’s unspoken nightmare, weaponised into brutal reality. It was a public unpeeling of an industry’s power structures, a slow-motion fight over evidence and testimony, and a national debate about how institutions protect (or fail) women.

For over eight years, her fight for justice became a mirror held up to an entire industry and a society. It was a journey from the dark confines of that car to the glaring lights of a courtroom, from being a silenced victim to becoming a defiant survivor whose voice sparked a revolution. This is not just the story of a crime. It is the story of what happens when one woman says, "Enough," and the tremors that follow.
