Parineeti Chopra confirmed for Akshay Kumar's Kesari

After months of speculations and countless media reports, Parineeti Chopra has been finalized to play Akshay Kumar's leading lady in the forthcoming period drama, Kesari. Producer Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce the news.

To be produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions, the historical film is based on the famous battle of Saragarhi. When the project was announced in 2017, Salman Khan was also onboard as a co-producer. However, when the superstar came to know that friend Ajay Devgn is also making a movie on the same story, he decided to bow out.

Kesari will be Parineeti Chopra's first film with Akshay Kumar. After sharing the screen space with superstar Ajay Devgn in 2017's biggest blockbuster, Golmaal Again, it is the second time when she collaborates with an A-list Bollywood actor.

The shooting of the historical film has already begun and Pari is expected to join the crew soon. The movie, which is being helmed by Anurag Singh, is scheduled to release on Holi 2019.

Besides Kesari, Parineeti Chopra has Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Namastey England in her kitty. Both films star Arjun Kapoor as her leading man.
