Paatal Lok: Season 2 already in the works at Amazon Prime?

As Amazon Prime Video’s latest offering Paatal Lok continues amassing overwhelming response from various quarters, the makers have already started working on a second season of the neo-noir webseries.

Produced by Anushka Sharma under her production house Clean Slate Films, Paatal Lok premiered today on 15th May, 2020. From critics and viewers, everyone has praised the series alike, with some even calling it Amazon Prime Video’s answer to Netflix’s Sacred Games.

During an interaction with a publication, Jaideep Ahlawat, who plays the lead role of Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary in Paatal Lok, revealed that creator Sudip Sharma might be in the process of scripting a second season of the series. “Of course, there is a possibility. As far as I know, the hint that I have gotten is that Sudip sir is already working on it. I hope it happens and I would love to take the story forward,” said the talented actor.

He went on to add, “It might be a different case or the continuation of the same case as season 1, I don’t know. But I would love to play Hathi Ram again. His involvement has just started. Hathi Ram has just entered the game. We feel that he will finally start now. Now, things are in his favour.”

Paatal Lok revolves around a down and out cop Hathi Ram Chaudhary who has been tasked to investigate the assassination attempt of a prime-time journalist. When four suspects of the crime are nabbed, the case turns out to be a devious maze where nothing is what it looks like. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Two Sinners marks Samir Zaidi’s striking directorial debut

Samir Zaidi, director of 'Two Sinners', emerges as a powerful new voice in Indian film

Indian cinema has a long tradition of discovering new storytellers in unexpected places, and one recent voice that has attracted quiet, steady attention is Samir Zaidi. His debut short film Two Sinners has been travelling across international festivals, earning strong praise for its emotional depth and moral complexity. But what makes Zaidi’s trajectory especially compelling is how organically it has unfolded — grounded not in film school training, but in lived observation, patient apprenticeships and a deep belief in the poetry of everyday life.

Zaidi’s relationship with creativity began well before he ever stepped onto a set. “As a child, I was fascinated by small, fleeting things — the way people spoke, the silences between arguments, the patterns of light on the walls,” he reflects. He didn’t yet have the vocabulary for what he was absorbing, but the instinct was already in place. At 13, he turned to poetry, sensing that the act of shaping emotions into words offered a kind of clarity he couldn’t find elsewhere. “I realised creativity wasn’t something external I had to chase; it was a way of processing the world,” he says. “Whether it was writing or filmmaking, it came from the same impulse: to make sense of what I didn’t fully understand.”
