My playlist - Junaid Khan

HE MAY be known as a gifted actor who has delivered winning performances in a number of popular drama serials in the past decade, but popular star Junaid Khan started his journey as a musician and was part of explosive rock group Call.

Even though the naturally gifted singer-songwriter is making the leap to cinema, he remains connected to music and selected 10 songs he loves.

Sab Bhula Ke by Call: I love my own song from the band Call because it occurred at a point where I badly needed it for myself and it was really important for me to convey the message out there. This is the most important song to me.

Wujud by Call: When I wrote this song, the message I tried to convey was for people who are trying to find themselves, are frustrated and hungry to find their true self. This song has the passion in it. There comes a time in everyone’s life when you think who you are and why you exist. That’s why this song is very close to my heart.

Kiss From A Rose by Seal: One of the greatest vocalist the world has seen in terms of range. This song from a 1990s Batman movie is still a favourite because it’s so soulful.

My Sacrifice by Creed: This is a band I heard a lot and followed in my early professional career. This band is close to my musical philosophy. Most songs by Creed are a favourite and My Sacrifice is one that I enjoyed the most.

You Know My Name by Chris Cornell: If we talk about rock songs of each era then Chris Cornell has to be in here because he was an icon and one of the best rock vocalists the world has seen. No one can beat his vocal range and expressions. This song featured in James Bond movie Casino Royale, which I accidentally watched at the cinema, and when the song came on I was star-struck. The song and film made a powerful impact on me.

Hazard by Richard Marx: This song was so popular at that time. It is very soulful and the story of this song is amazing, if you carefully watch the video with lyrics - unique, soft and melodious, yet a sad song. Richard Marx has an amazingly beautiful voice.

If You Really Loved A Woman by Bryan Adams: When I started my journey as a musician, I followed Bryan Adams a lot. He was very good with rock, as well as romantic songs, so a great allrounder. The outstanding vocalist produced a huge range of songs. I have seen him perform live twice and both were thoroughly enjoyed. This song portrays a story that completely explains the true meaning of love.

It’s My Life by Bon Jovi: I had a chance to see this popular band live and what an amazing band they are. I love this song because it is full of life. This song is so lively, energetic and positive. When you listen to this song it lifts your mood. It gives you a positive energy boost, and all you want to do is conquer the world.

Stupified by Disturbed: In the beginning, I used to attempt vocally difficult songs as a part of my learning and this one by Disturbed fell into that category. I listened and thought in my mind, ‘how can anyone even attempt this song – I did and it will remain a favourite for me.

Cochise by Audioslave: Chris Cornell has done solos and been in various bands, including this one. In Audioslave, Cornell was a perfect match in terms of the composition and musical arrangements, as it completely suited his voice. Audioslave have given a lot of hits. This song Cochise has been my favourite because it uplifted rock music in the late 1990s.

Can Sreeleela fill the big Bollywood void?

It is no secret that Bollywood is facing a talent drought. While established stars continue to dominate screens, there is a clear gap when it comes to younger actors making a strong mark.

In the past, each generation delivered a crop of newcomers who injected fresh energy into the industry. That pattern has stalled in recent years, with fewer young actors making a lasting impression. Into this space steps Sreeleela, a fast-rising actor from the South who has begun to attract serious attention in Hindi cinema.

‘Jewel Thief’ review: Critics call it a predictable heist film with uninspired direction

The much-anticipated heist film Jewel Thief promised a thrilling ride with high-stakes action and suspense. However, early reviews suggest that the film falls short of expectations, leaving viewers underwhelmed by its predictable plot and lacklustre execution.

The premise of Jewel Thief centres around a master thief who is forced by a menacing antagonist to steal a rare diamond. Critics, however, note that while the plot has the potential to be gripping, the execution doesn’t quite live up to the hype. The film is described as a "predictable heist" where the twists are "painfully obvious" from the start, offering little in terms of suspense or surprise. The film’s plot quickly devolves into a familiar, formulaic chase that never quite finds its footing.

A final chapter full of twists, turns, and the inevitable end of Joe Goldberg’s story

'You' season 5 reviews: Critics react to Joe Goldberg’s bloody final chapter with mixed responses

Netflix’s You has always sparked strong reactions, equal parts addictive and absurd, and its fifth and final season stays true to that legacy. As Joe Goldberg bows out in this last chapter, the critical response has been a mix of intrigue, exhaustion, and reluctant admiration. Here's a breakdown of the overall verdict.

A slow start that eventually pays off?
The final season has been widely described as sluggish in its early episodes, bogged down by repetitive family drama surrounding Kate’s aristocratic and scheming relatives. The beginning feels a bit slow and hard to get into, but many agree that a mid-season twist helps inject some long-overdue energy. Once the narrative picks up, it becomes more engaging, if not exactly fresh, with enough momentum to keep viewers curious about how Joe's story will unravel.
