Modi calls for ‘stronger and closer’ ties with Britain


Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has spoken to his British counterpart Theresa May, congratulating her on her new position and discussing “stronger and closer” bilateral ties, including in trade and defence. During the telephone conversation on Tuesday (July 26), Modi also thanked May for the UK’s consistent support to India in various global forums, an Indian foreign ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.
