Manushi Chhillar in talks for Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tandav

After tasting huge success with Netflix’s Sacred Games and Sacred Games 2, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is now gearing up to topline yet another web-series titled Tandav. Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar, who is known for such successful films as Sultan (2016), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2019), will direct the series for Amazon Prime Video.

The latest update on the forthcoming project is that Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar is in talks to join the cast of Tandav. If she comes on board, she will be paired opposite Saif Ali Khan in the series. However, an official announcement is awaited to confirm her presence in the show.

Earlier, Saif had said that Tandav is inspired by the American political thriller House Of Cards. “I don’t want to use American examples, but it is along the lines of House Of Cards, although set within the framework of Indian politics. The plot takes into account various factions like Dalit politics and UP cops and the whole nexus between them.”

Those who have seen the American show will know that Saif Ali Khan will need to be paired opposite a strong female actress, and it seems that Manushi Chhillar may be the perfect candidate for the role, having won the Miss World 2017 beauty pageant.

Talking about his character in the series, Saif Ali Khan had earlier said, “My character is Chanakya-like, in the guise of a youth leader who comes from a privileged background and aspires to become the prime minister.”

Tandav is expected to premiere in mid-2020.
