Kareena Kapoor locked to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Salute

Speculations are rife that Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is riding high on the runaway success of her latest release, Veere Di Wedding, has been finalized to star opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming space odyssey film, Salute.

Initially, the big-ticket movie was being planned with Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan. At that time, Priyanka Chopra’s name was doing the rounds for the female lead. However, later it turned out that Khan has bowed out of the project due to some creative issues with the makers.

After Aamir exited the project, the makers approached Shah Rukh Khan who has, reportedly, agreed to topline the ambitious project. Since SRK and Priyanka share a bitter past, there is no question of them starring together in this or any other film, for that matter.

According to reports, the makers had approached Kareena for the role a couple of months ago. However, she said yes to the film now, after the success of Veere Di Wedding.

Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan were last seen together in Ra.One (2011). Watching them again, after a gap of 8 years, will be a great cinematic experience for the audience.

Salute is expected to roll by early next year.

  • Bruce Willis has several critically acclaimed thrillers beyond the Die Hard franchise
  • Looper currently holds the highest Rotten Tomatoes score among these picks at 93%
  • 12 Monkeys and The Sixth Sense also rank among his strongest-reviewed films
  • The list spans sci-fi thrillers, supernatural mysteries, neo-noir and action films

Bruce Willis will always be associated with John McClane, but Die Hard is hardly the only place where the actor made his mark on the thriller genre.

Across the 1990s and 2000s, Willis moved between time-travel mysteries, supernatural dramas, neo-noirs and action thrillers, often using the same understated intensity that made him such a recognisable screen presence. Rotten Tomatoes scores show that some of his most highly regarded work came when he stepped away from the role of the conventional action hero.
