Kangana Ranaut to next helm an epic action drama

Riding high on the success of her recent period drama, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi (2019), which she co-directed with southern filmmaker Krish, actress Kangana Ranaut is presently shooting for a sports film, titled Panga. Directed by Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the movie is currently being shot in Delhi.

After completing Panga and a big-budgeted bilingual biopic on actress-politician Jayalalithaa called Jaya, Kangana will return to direction to helm an epic action drama, the script of which has been locked.

Talking about her next directorial venture, the three-time National Film Award-winning actress said, “I’m on the verge of announcing my next directorial venture. It’s an action film, an epic drama. It has taken a lot of my time. Currently, we are putting everything in order, but we have locked the script. We’ll be doing a photo-shoot, soon after which we plan to release the poster, too.”

Getting the right budget for a woman-centric film is a task, but Kangana is hopeful that since actresses are bringing a lot of business, she will be able to collect the money required to take off her next directorial venture.

“There are a lot of great stories to be told and actresses today are bringing a lot of business, too. I’m happy with the way Manikarnika worked for me — as an actor and also as a director. Now is the right time to start work on my second directorial project,” the actress said.

Besides Panga and Jaya, Kangana Ranaut will also be seen in Ekta Kapoor’s Mental Hai Kya. Also starring Rajkummar Rao, the movie is expected to roll into theatres in May this year.

Jake and Romy Reiner spoke of “unimaginable pain” and a “devastating loss” following the deaths of the director behind A Few Good Men and his photographer wife. They did not address the allegations against their brother Nick, now facing two counts of first-degree murder. They simply asked for “compassion” and said their parents were not only family but “best friends”.
