Kajol to kickstart her upcoming film from next week

Last seen in the regional film Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, award-winning actress Kajol will start shooting for her forthcoming film from 24th January onwards. To be directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the film is tentatively titled, Ela.

The movie is being produced by her husband Ajay Devgn and will see the talented actress in the role of a single mother who is an aspiring singer as well. It is an adaptation of Anand Gandhi's Gujarati well-received play Beta, Kaagdo (Son, Crow).

"I was offered the script around four months ago. It took me a while to understand the Gujarati tone but eventually, I fell in love with this extremely emotional story which boasts of some really strong characters and there is a chance of people getting really close to them," said the helmer of the film.

"I am getting involved in the dialogue and character-building as there are a few insights that I want to incorporate to make the film more endearing. This is not like Parineeta, where everything was detailed, this is more free-flowing, a character and music driven film," the filmmaker continued.

Pradeep Sarkar last directed Mardaani, starring Rani Mukerji in the lead role.
