Javid out of Tory leadership race

SAJID JAVID, the sole Asian candidate of the Tory leadership election, has been knocked out of the contest, it was announced earlier today (20).

The home secretary received 34 votes coming behind foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt with 59 votes.

The bookies' favourite Boris Johnson got 157 votes while environment secretary Michael Gove received 61 votes.

The Asian politician was one of several prominent candidates battling it out to replace Theresa May as prime minister.

Although rumours had circulated on Tuesday that Javid was going to drop out of the race, his spokesperson said he would “fight on”.

On Brexit, British-Pakistani Javid has previously said he could not imagine circumstances in which he would want to have another extension to the UK's exit date and the country must be prepared for a no-deal Brexit.
