Is Fashion 2 on the cards?

Fashion (2008), helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar, was truly a career-defining movie for many names associated with it. It’s one of those rare Bollywood films which are still remembered for being led by an outstanding all-women star cast and progressive storytelling.

The runaway success of the film catapulted its lead actress Priyanka Chopra to the top and won her, her first National Film Award. Kangana Ranaut, who played the second female lead in the movie, also walked away with her first National Film Award for her spectacular performance in it. Well-known model Mugdha Godse made her Bollywood debut with the film and won praises from all corners.

On 29th October, the critically and commercially successful film completed a decade of its theatrical release. On the occasion, director Madhur Bhandarkar hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the much-loved film.

We hear that Madhur Bhandarkar, who last directed Indu Sarkar (2017), has already thought of the concept which will take the franchise forward. Just like its predecessor, Fashion 2 will also be inspired by true-life events.

Well, a lot is happening in the fashion world these days. So we don’t think Bhandarkar will find any difficulty in finalizing the script for Fashion 2.

An official announcement is awaited.

  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
