Imran Khan’s ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith tweets congratulations

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is set to become the nation’s next prime minister and congratulations have been pouring in from all over the world.

Jemima Goldsmith, Khan's ex-wife, was among the first ones to express her excitement at PTI's lead. Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Goldsmith urged Khan to remember the reason why he entered politics in the first place.

"22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM," wrote Goldsmith. "It’s an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief and refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI."

"I remember IK’s 1st election in 1997- untested, idealistic and politically naive. I waited up for the call in LHR with 3 mo-old Sulaiman, who I had lugged around the country. Eventually he called. “It’s a clean sweep" and after my gasp, “… the other way.” He roared with laughter."

Goldsmith was married to Khan between 1995 and 2004 and they have remained cordial even after their divorce.

While Goldsmith has been heaping praises on Khan, the cricketer-turned-politician's second wife Reham Khan is apparently not happy with PTI's success.

Check out Reham's tweets below:

Reham and Imran were married for only 10 months, but he featured heavily in her recently released autobiography Reham Khan.

In one of her earlier interviews, Reham accused Imran of having no connection to real life.

“He’s the only celebrity we have in Pakistan and expects everyone to do everything,” she was quoted as saying by The Times. “I told him, ‘You’re like Rapunzel in the tower – you have no connection to real life. ’”

“He’s so narcissistic and single-minded about his goal (to become Pakistan PM) that he forgets the appropriate emotional response to things,” added Reham.

In her book, Reham thinks he's God. “I married him because I believed in him and his mission, but it’s all fake,” Reham said.

Jurors at the court in Manchester, northwest England, deliberated for three weeks before finding the seven men, all of whom are of South Asian descent, guilty of rape.
