How can you prepare to take your Secure English Language Test (SELT) as part of your UK visa application?

Taking an exam in a foreign language can sometimes be an unsettling experience, which is why Trinity College London has developed a wide range of resources to ensure that everyone who needs it has the help and support they need to book, prepare, and practise for their Secure English language test (SELT).

Trinity is an Awarding Organisation specialising in performance and communicative skills assessment and certification, and since 2011 has been recognised by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) as an approved SELT provider in the UK. Over the last 10 years, millions of candidates have taken their SELT exam with Trinity as part of their UK visa application.

Practise, practise, practise

The best way to help you prepare for your English language test is to practise; watch TV, listen to the radio, read newspapers, and speak to those around you in English. Going to the library or shops, catching the bus, or ordering food in a restaurant are all opportunities to have a conversation and to speak and listen in English.

Trinity GESE Study App

If you want to be able to study at a time and place convenient to you then the Trinity GESE Study App provides this option. The App is an on-the-go study tool created by English language experts and covers all areas of study required for the GESE Speaking and Listening test at Grade 2 (A1), Grade 3 (A2) or Grade 5 (B1). It can help you learn and track your English language progress when and where it suits you.

You can purchase the App before, after or when you are booking your SELT exam.
