Has Vicky Kaushal finally bagged Saare Jahan Se Achcha?

A lot has been said and written about the forthcoming Hindi film Saare Jahan Se Accha, which is a biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma who, in the year of 1984, became the first Indian citizen to travel in space.

The biopic was first offered to Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. However, the superstar could not do it owing to his busy schedule and, in fact, suggested Shah Rukh Khan’s name for the same. Though SRK gave his nod to the project, he backed out of it after the failure of his ambitious film Zero (2018) last year.

After Shah Rukh Khan’s exit from the much-awaited project, several actors’ names have been thrown around for the lead role of Rakesh Sharma. However, the makers are yet to announce any name officially.

But if sources are to be believed, talented actor Vicky Kaushal is leading the race to bag the lead role in Saare Jahan Se Achcha. Some sources even go on to say that the Masaan (2015) actor has already signed the high-profile project on the dotted line and an official announcement could be made very soon.

Vicky Kaushal has recently been in news for the earth-shattering success of his latest film Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019). Made on a shoestring budget of ₹ 25 crores, the Aditya Dhar directorial has minted over ₹ 230 crores at the domestic market and is still running successfully in several cinemas across the country.

Interestingly, Uri: The Surgical Strike was also produced by Ronnie Screwvala who will now be bankrolling Saare Jahaan Se Achcha under his production banner RSVP Films in association with Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films.
