Dia Mirza on RHTDM sequel with R Madhavan: We are doing our best to make it happen

Dia Mirza and R Madhavan, both the actors made their Bollywood debut with 2001 release Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. The film wasn’t a big hit at the box office, but it has received cult status due to the popularity of the songs, dialogues, and chemistry between Dia and Madhavan.

During the lockdown, Dia has come up with her own Instagram live session named #DownToEarthWithDee. Recently, she interacted with Madhavan on Instagram and the two spoke about working together and how they are doing their best to make a sequel to Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.

Madhavan said, "I know people have been dying to see us on screen. It has been over 19 years and somehow I'm still inundated with songs, scenes, and dialogues from the film every day on my social media.”

While talking about the sequel, Dia said, "We are doing our best to make it happen, but we will only work together when we can give our best. There is something so special about Reena and Maddy and I think there was an innocence and honesty we shared in RHTDM that resonates so deeply with everyone even today. We wouldn't want to dilute that in any way."

Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was directed by Gautham Menon and also starred Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role. The songs of the film like Zara Zara and Sach Keh Raha Hai are still loved by the audiences.

Talking about Dia and Madhavan’s other projects, the former was last seen on the big screen in Thappad. Reportedly, she will next be seen opposite Nagarjuna in a film titled Wild Dog. Meanwhile, R Madhavan was gearing up for the release of Nishabdham in April, but due to the lockdown, the film has been postponed. There were reports that the movie might get a direct digital release.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
