Deepika Padukone psyched up about her next Chhapaak

It has been almost a year since fans have not seen the reigning queen of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone, on the silver screen. The actress was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s gobsmackingly epic period drama Padmaavat, which hit the marquee earlier this year.

After the release of Padmaavat, Deepika was excited about teaming up with ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for an untitled project, also featuring National award-winning actor Irrfan Khan. However, the project had to be put on hold owing to the poor health of Khan who is still undergoing treatment in London.

After the Vishal Bhardwaj directorial was put on the backburner, the actress got busy with preparations of her wedding with Ranveer Singh. Now that the actress is settled down in her personal life, she is ready to resume her professional life with a bang!

Deepika, who will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s forthcoming film Chhapaak, took to Twitter to express her excitement at giving a nod to the project. “A story of trauma and triumph. And the unquashable human spirit. Elated to collaborate with Fox Star Studios on Chhapaak @meghnagulzar @masseysahib @foxstarhindi,” read her tweet.

To be produced by Fox Star Studios and Deepika Padukone herself, Chhapaak also features talented actor Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role. The movie is set to roll camera in the first quarter of 2019.
