Deepika Padukone denies rumours of Hrithik Roshan playing Krishna in Mahabharat

Deepika Padukone, who has been missing from the scene for almost two years now, is finally returning to grace the silver screen with her much-talked-about film Chhapaak. The movie, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, has been creating the right amount of buzz ever since its trailer came out a couple of days ago. Apart from acting in this Meghna Gulzar directorial, Deepika Padukone is also co-producing Chhapaak along with Fox Star Studios.

In addition to Chhapaak, Deepika has in her pocket Dharma Productions’ untitled film with director Shakun Batra and producer Madhu Mantena’s ambitious mythological drama based on the Indian epic Mahabharat. Rumours have been rife lately that superstar Hrithik Roshan, who was most recently seen in Yash Raj Films’ War (2019), has been approached to play the role of Lord Krishna in the mythological drama wherein Deepika will be seen essaying the role of Draupadi.

While fans got really excited to know about this fresh pairing, Deepika has rubbished all such rumours floating around. The actress said that Hrithik has not been signed for the film and, in fact, the project is still on the scripting stage. “These are mere rumours and I have no clue about who is spreading it. All I know it that the movie Draupadi is still being worked upon. In fact, we have not finalised the script of the movie yet. As of now, we are looking for a talented director for the movie. Once the director is finalised, we will move towards the next step,” said the actress.

Meanwhile, the Padmaavat (2018) actress is busy promoting Chhapaak. The film is scheduled to enter theatres on January 10, 2020.
