Conservative Muslim Forum hosts Iftar

CONSERVATIVES chairman Oliver Dowden MP outlined his party’s commitment to “stamp out Islamophobia from society” and his plans to welcome more Muslims into public life.

At the first-ever iftar reception hosted by the party at its headquarters in London last week, the lawmaker also thanked the Muslim community for its contributions, especially during Ramadan when Muslims donate more than £130m to charities worldwide.

He expressed his commitment to working with the Conservative Muslim Forum which hosted the “historic” iftar.

Lord Sheikh of Cornhill praised prime minister Boris Johnson's leadership for delivering Brexit, vaccination rollout and standing with Ukraine.

Forum chairman Hashim Bhatti, who organised the event, said his team was willing to work on the issues that mattered to the Muslim community.

Several other functionaries of the party attended the event, which was marked by Quran recitations from Squadron Leader Imam Ali Omar of the Armed Forces.

AMG team meets BAPS head priest during Hindu New Year celebrations

Members of the Asian Media Group (AMG) management team met Pujya Yogvivek Swami, head priest of BAPS, during Hindu New Year celebrations at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden on Wednesday (22).

During the meeting, Pujya Yogvivek Swami fondly recalled the late Shri Ramniklal Solanki, founder of Garavi Gujarat and AMG, praising his contribution to preserving Gujarati culture and language in the UK. He also acknowledged the ongoing role of Garavi Gujarat, Eastern Eye and other AMG publications in championing Gujarati heritage, community values, business success and the arts among the British diaspora.
