Confirmed: Saas Bina Sasural to return with season 2

With several successful television serials returning to the small screen for a second season, Sony Entertainment Television has also renewed one of its popular shows, Saas Bina Sasural, for season 2.

According to reports, Sony TV is planning to rope in a number of actors from the previous season for Saas Bina Sasural 2. Actors Darshan Jariwala and Rajendra Chawla have already been approached to step into the shoes of their characters Cheddilal Chaturvedi and Pashupatinath Chaturvedi respectively once again.

Confirming the development, Jariwala told an Indian publication, “Yes, I have been approached for the show. You will have to wait and watch to know if I will reprise the role or not. What piqued my interest about this role is that it is different. My character is a tech-savvy guy. At his age, he has discovered and taken a penchant for the fun aspect of the world of the internet. His physical age has nothing to do with the way he thinks and his outlook towards life.”

We also hear that the makers have decided to shoot the new season in front of a live audience. “The format of the show has also appealed to me. We are trying to go back to the quintessential sitcom. Had we not been hit by the pandemic, I would have loved to perform before a live audience. In fact, it is something we will definitely consider, once the fear of Coronavirus vanishes. This genre is different — here, you do not shoot scenes and piece them together at the edit table. Here, it is more about raw energy. It is a brilliant idea because people are afraid to go back to the real theatre. So, we are trying to bring theatre on TV,” added Darshan Jariwala.

News also has it that Aishwarya Sakhuja might return to reprise her role in Saas Bina Sasural 2. An official confirmation is awaited though.

You arrive in Kochi, and it feels like the sea air makes everything slightly sharper; faces in the city look purposeful, a film poster peels at the corner of a wall. In a city that has cradled a thriving film industry for decades, a single crime on the night of 17 February 2017 ruptured the ordinary: an abduction, a recorded sexual assault and a survivor who reported it the next day. What happened next is every woman’s unspoken nightmare, weaponised into brutal reality. It was a public unpeeling of an industry’s power structures, a slow-motion fight over evidence and testimony, and a national debate about how institutions protect (or fail) women.

For over eight years, her fight for justice became a mirror held up to an entire industry and a society. It was a journey from the dark confines of that car to the glaring lights of a courtroom, from being a silenced victim to becoming a defiant survivor whose voice sparked a revolution. This is not just the story of a crime. It is the story of what happens when one woman says, "Enough," and the tremors that follow.
