Comment on Pulwama attack leads to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s exit from The Kapil Sharma Show

Former cricketer, politician and television personality Navjot Singh Sidhu has been shown the exit door from the popular TV series, The Kapil Sharma Show, a day after his controversial remark on the Pulwama terror strike which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF jawans.

Sidhu, who has been a regular on the show on Sony Entertainment Television, has been replaced by well-known actress Archana Puran Singh. Archana has hosted several seasons of Sony TV’s hit show Comedy Circus and is presently seen on the SAB TV show, My Name Is Lakhan.

“His remarks have not been taken kindly by most. Also, the channel and the show were getting dragged into the unwanted controversy. This is when the team amicably decided that Navjot make a distance from the show. The team has already shot a couple of episodes with Archana,” a source revealed.

While condemning the terror attack, which shook the entire nation, Mr Sidhu, without naming Pakistan, had questioned that if an entire nation can be blamed for an attack carried out by a handful of people.

"It is a cowardly and dastardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished," said Navjot Sidhu. "For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?” he added.

His comment spiralled into a major controversy as soon as various news channels aired it, with netizens on Twitter demanding a ban on The Kapil Sharma Show.
