Trends come and go but biopics can never go out of fashion in Bollywood. Almost every second month we hear about some filmmaker planning a biopic on someone. Adding to the list is a new biopic based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The upcoming biopic will be the silver screen adaptation of author Ullekh N P’s book The Untold Vajpayee. Shiva Sharma and Zeeshan Ahmad, owners of Amaash Films, have procured the official rights of the book. The movie will focus on several aspects of the politician’s life from his childhood to college life to him turning into a politician.

The Untold Vajpayee is one of my most ambitious projects and it gives me a feeling of immense honour and joy to be able to put up this unsung hero onto the big screen. Also, I believe not everyone knows the real side of Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji. While reading this book, I also discovered quite a lot about his personality traits, the work done by him during his tenure as a Prime Minister for our country,” said Shiva Sharma.

He went on to add, “These all unseen and untold traits of his personality inspired me to put his story out to the world and inspire other people as well.”

Zeeshan Ahmad revealed that the team has already started working on the script of the film. “Once the scripting is completed, we shall finalise the director and the actors for the film. The tentative title of the movie is The Untold Vajpayee,” he added.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, served three terms as the Prime Minister of India. Born on 25 December 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, the ace politician breathed his last on August 16, 2018 after a prolonged illness. In 2015, he was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, by the then President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
