Biopic on Abhinav Bindra not shelved, confirms Anil Kapoor

Harshvardhan Kapoor, who made his acting debut with renowned filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya in 2016, has not been quite lucky in his innings in showbiz. After the epic failure of his debut film at the box-office, the actor was seen in Phantom Films’ Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018). Unfortunately, that film also tanked at the ticket window, leaving the actor disappointed.

Before the release of Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Anil Kapoor, father of Harshvardhan Kapoor, had shared a picture on social media in 2017, announcing a biopic based on the life of Olympic Gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra. It has been 2 years since then but the audience is yet to see the film in theatres. Recently, speculations were rife that the project has been shelved. However, if Anil Kapoor’s recent tweet is to be believed, the project is still on track and will hit the silver screen soon.

“Great stories take time to be told.  The world will see the inspirational life story of Abhinav Bindra on the big screen soon! So incredibly excited for this!” wrote Senior Kapoor on his Twitter handle.

For the uninitiated, Anil Kapoor plays Harshvardhan Kapoor's onscreen father in the biopic, while the latter essays the role of Abhinav Bindra. Apart from the tweet, Anil Kapoor also posted a beautiful picture of Abhinav Bindra and his father Apjit Bindra while Anil is happily posing with them.

Directed by Kannan Iyer, the biopic is being bankrolled under Anil Kapoor Film Company. Well-known filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj was initially producing the film along with an established studio. However, Anil Kapoor's production house took complete charge of the project in late 2016. The biopic was officially announced in 2017.
