Anushka Sharma on staying away from films

A lot has been speculated about Anushka Sharma and the next project that she will be taking up to headline. She was last seen in Zero (2018), co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. The movie did not perform well at the box-office and thereafter the actress has not signed any new film. However, rumours are doing the rounds that she is set to topline an upcoming biopic based on the life of all-rounder cricketer Jhulan Goswami.

Anushka Sharma recently opened up about staying away from films for more than a year now. She said, “I was on auto pilot, and it got exhausting. There was a period when I was shooting two films simultaneously. I made choices that were not necessarily healthy. I needed to try other things, things that did not fit into the schedule that I had found myself getting accustomed to for such a long time.”

The actress added that she needed to slow down in life and prioritise other things. “There’s never a good time to step away from creative opportunities, but I needed to grow and I needed to challenge myself in a different way to figure out, I don’t know, a purpose, and live a little outside of the movie sets and promotional tours, and dresses and heels, and have authentic exchanges with people. I also prioritised slowing down and working on building a life for myself. I worked in a different capacity – I tried to create some things, produce some things, build my clothing brand,” she concluded.

If reports are to be believed, Anushka Sharma has registered two titles for the Jhulan Goswami biopic. She is expected to star shooting for the film soon. Filmmaker Prosit Roy, who directed the actress in horror film Pari (2018), will helm the untitled project.

An official announcement is highly awaited.

When masculinity turns inward

A growing number of Bollywood actors are quietly rewriting their public image, not through films but through fatherhood. The idea of the distant, guarded star is giving way to something more personal, shaped by candid moments with their daughters.

Sidharth Malhotra recently joined that space, sharing a light-hearted post that leaned into what social media now calls “girl dad” energy. It was less about announcement and more about tone, signalling a softer, more intimate public persona.
