After Simmba, Sara Ali Khan signs Karan Johar’s Rannbhoomi

Buzz has it that newcomer Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has been signed to play the female lead in Karan Johar’s upcoming production venture, Rannbhoomi. If the news is indeed true, it will be her second movie with Dharma Productions after Simmba, for which she starts to shoot in next couple of weeks.

Rannbhoomi, to be helmed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) fame Shashank Khaitan, stars Varun Dhawan in the lead role. When the director was asked about Sara’s entry in the film, he said, “No one is finalised. The story is in place, work on the screenplay is on. We will get down to casting once we are completely done with writing so that we can give proper narration as opposed to a one-liner.”

In the meantime, Sara Ali Khan is busy with her first film Kedarnath. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Abhishek Kapoor, the romantic movie is being helmed by Abhishek Kapoor and stars Sushant Singh Rajput as the male lead. It is scheduled to enter cinemas on 30th November, 2018.

Varun Dhawan, on the other hand, is shooting for another Dharma Productions’ film Kalank. The multi-starrer period movie, which also features Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur, rolls into theatres on 19th April, 2019. Dhawan will start shooting for Shashank Khaitan’s Rannbhoomi right after wrapping up Kalank.
