Two big films releasing on the same date does not make any sense. At the end of the day, one movie is going to eat into the other’s business. But that thought has very rarely stopped filmmakers from locking horns with each other at the box-office.
The latest clash that everyone is talking about in Bollywood is happening between superstar Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold and John Abraham’s suspense thriller Satyamev Jayate. Both films have patriotic themes and both are pitted against each other on Indian Independence Day, e.g. 15th August.
Earlier, at the trailer launch of his film Satyamev Jayate when John was asked about the clash with Kumar’s film Gold, he had said, "Two films can release on the same date, there are enough screens for it."
Today, when Akshay Kumar was asked the same question at a special event of his film Gold, he said, “John is my friend. In the industry, we all are friends. I have learnt that we can come together on any date. We all are friends (laughs)."
He further added, "Be it, Eid, Diwali or Christmas, we all will come together. We are friends."
Does Akki’s comment smack of sarcasm?
