A film on Balakot airstrikes in the works at Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions

Ever since the Indian Air Force confirmed carrying out airstrikes in the Balakot region of PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) on 26th February in order to decimate Jaish-e-Mohammad’s terror camps across the border, Bollywood filmmakers have been busy registering film titles to cash in on the current situation between India and Pakistan.

The latest we hear that well-known filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Abhishek Kapoor have joined forces to make a film on airstrikes conducted in the wake of a deadly attack on CRPF personnel on 14th February in Pulwama, which claimed more than 40 lives.

According to reports, the untitled project is already at the research and development stage and the makers are planning to begin its production by the middle of the year. A source close to the project revealed that the film was an effort by the makers to “salute and pay tribute” to the Indian Air Force. The source also divulged that a major share of the profits will be given to the armed forces welfare fund.

“This project is our small way of saluting our armed forces and their families,” said the source, adding that the casting is being finalised even as “several A-list actors have shown interest in the film”.

Besides this project by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Abhishek Kapoor, Bhushan Kumar and Mahaveer Jain, many other films on the Pulwama attack are being planned in Bollywood.
