Subhash Ghai signs Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff

It has been five long years since showman Subhash Ghai has not directed any film. His last directorial venture was Kaanchi: The Unbreakable (2014), which failed to break any records at the box-office and turned out to be the biggest flop of his storied career.

After the failure of Kaanchi, Subhash Ghai took a long break from films and is yet to make his directorial comeback. In the past five years, he has produced only one film Hero (2015), featuring debutants Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, which was a remake of his own 1983 movie of the same name.

Unfortunately, Hero too bombed at the box-office, incurring heavy losses to Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts and Salman Khan Films. The love story was co-produced by Salman Khan. Since then, the filmmaker has not touched any film.

However, if latest reports are to be believed, Subhash Ghai is set to bankroll a new project. Not only that we also hear that he has signed Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff for his next production venture, titled Ramchand Kishanchand. The film will mark the on-screen reunion of Ghai, Kapoor and Shroff after their 1991 blockbuster film Ram Lakhan.

According to reports, Ramchand Kishanchand is a crime-comedy, which revolves around two 50-year-old cops. After Ram Lakhan, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff are set to play cops once again in the upcoming movie. As per sources, the film is expected to mount the shooting floor towards the end of the year.

Confirming the development, Ghai said, “We have been working on various scripts for Anil and Jackie and have liked one.”

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff are presently busy with their upcoming projects. Kapoor is currently shooting for the Mohit Suri directorial Malang. Shroff, on the other hand, will next be seen in Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhas’ multilingual action entertainer Saaho.
