“Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan will thoroughly entertain audiences,” promises Ayushmann Khurrana

After delivering three back-to-back superhit films in 2019 – Article 15, Dream Girl and Bala – Ayushmann Khurrana is back to win our hearts again with his first release of the year, titled Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The trailer for the much-awaited movie came out yesterday and, in no time, became a talking point on various social media platforms.

The National Film Award-winning actor says that being a part of cinema that the whole family can watch is something that he enjoys doing. “As an entertainer, I would love to reach out and entertain as many people as possible. I choose films where the entire family can go and watch them together in a theatre. There is no greater joy as an artist than seeing them enjoying your cinema and also coming out with a message to take home, to discuss and ponder,” says Khurrana.

As the title aptly suggests, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is a sequel to the 2017 film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. While the predecessor starred Ayushmann Khurrana as a young man suffering from erectile disfunction, the sequel features him in the role of a man who falls in love with another man.

Khurrana is hopeful that his film will help deliver an important message to the audience. “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is again one such script that will thoroughly entertain audiences and also deliver an important social message about inclusivity and individuality. Like all my films, it is again a full family entertainer,” he says in conclusion.

Also starring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao in important roles, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan has been directed by Hitesh Kewalya. Produced by Colour Yellow Productions, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 21st February, 2020.

What Britain’s ban on strangulation porn really means and why campaigners say it could backfire

Highlights:

  • Government to criminalise porn that shows strangulation or suffocation during sex.
  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

You see it everywhere now. In mainstream pornography, a man’s hands around a woman’s neck. It has become so common that for many, especially the young, it just seems like part of sex, a normal step. The UK government has decided it should not be, and soon, it will be a crime.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
