Shaheen Bhatt is penning a book on depression

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt's sister Shaheen Bhatt is working on a book that talks about her tryst with depression two years ago.

Talking about Shaheen's book, her mother told DNA: “Shaheen is penning down her experiences in a book and she is doing it to help other people understand that there’s nothing wrong in accepting your condition. Shaheen is a strong, creative girl.  It’s brave of her to talk about it on a platform like this. She is a great writer and when she told us about her decision to write the book, we were happy.”

Her mother added, “All of us, including (Mahesh) Bhatt saab, Alia and I, stand by her.”

The eldest daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan took to Instagram in 2016 to reveal that she has had to live "with depression on and off since I was about 13 years old. This is not a revelation or a confession. Those who know me know this about me. It's not something I take any pains to hide, I'm not ashamed of it or particularly troubled by it. It's just a part of who I am."

Detailing how depression affects her, Shaheen said there are days when she feels good and then there are times when she feels as if someone has turned the light off inside her head.

In recent times, a number of Bollywood celebrities have started opening up about the issues they face in real life. Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Zaira Wasim and Anushka Sharma have all been vocal about their trysts with mental disorders such as depression and anxiety in a bid to remove the stigma associated with these ailments.

  • The US Department of Justice has approved Paramount Skydance's £82.8bn ($111bn) takeover of Warner Bros Discovery.
  • The merger would unite major brands including CNN, HBO, CBS, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon.
  • State regulators, UK watchdogs and industry critics are still scrutinising the deal.

The proposed Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros Discovery merger has moved a step closer to reality after receiving approval from the US Department of Justice, clearing one of the biggest regulatory hurdles facing the £82.8bn ($111bn) deal.

The Paramount-Warner Bros merger, one of the largest media industry deals in recent years, would reshape the entertainment landscape by bringing together some of the world's best-known television networks, film studios and streaming businesses under a single corporate umbrella. However, despite the federal approval, the transaction remains under scrutiny in multiple jurisdictions and could still face legal challenges before it is completed.
